3M™ Super Seamstick is an incredibly sticky, double-sided acrylic adhesive seaming tape. Use this tape in place of sewing radial seams on coated ripstop or coated polyester spinnaker fabrics. It can also be used in place of sewing on film-on-film laminates. This tape should not be used on woven materials such as Dacron^® and Sunbrella^®. Super Seamstick won’t stick to silicone coated materials. The "Basting Tape Selection Tips" PDF document below details all the materials this basting tape can be used on.

You can sew over this tape, but because the adhesive is so aggressive, sewing can be a challenge and could result in skipped stitches. Your needle will also likely need frequent cleaning. Intermittently clean the needle with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab or an adhesive remover. Running your needle through a bar of Ivory soap can also prevent buildup.
