Description
Tenara Lifetime Guaranteed Thread features unique PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) fiber construction that extends the life of fabric seams and ultimately the products in which it is used. GORE® Tenara has high strength and durability that for over 10 years has proven to be unaffected by exposure to UV rays, cleaning agents, pollution, saltwater, air, rain and snow.
Great for outdoor, awning and marine applications, Tenara thread will not rot if left outside all year round. It remains colorfast even in extreme temperatures and frost. Although more expensive, Tenara is a greater value than other polyester threads when considering life span and re-stitching costs. Choose Tenara thread to improve the performance of outdoor fabrics where seam life and integrity are of the utmost importance.
Tenara M1000H is similar in weight to V-138. Heavy Tenara thread requires a needle size of #19 or #20. Smaller needles may cause skipped stitches and/or the double ply thread to unravel above the eye of the needle. Tenara thread does not require as much upper tension as normal polyester thread. Heavy Tenara thread usually requires less tensioning which will result in a good-looking stitch on both the top side of the fabric and bottom, but the knot on the bottom side usually does not pull up into the fabric all the way.
We recommend using Tenara thread with rotary hook sewing machines like the Sailrite® Fabricator®, 111, Professional and Big-N-Tall. Not sure if your machine has a rotary hook? Learn more in our Rotary vs. Oscillating Hook Sewing Machines article.

Tenara Thread
Reviews
Everything you get from Sailrite is HIGH quality fair priced goods.
Quick Delivery and great products
well worth the price
great thread and does last and last. have never had to restitch a project. even in the florida sun
Tenara lifetime thread is the way to go.
After reading some on line reviews I was a little skeptical of trying this thread, I made a call to Matt with my questions and ordered the thread. I am currently on my 3rd spool and love sewing with it. You do need to set the tension a little higher and use serv7 needles. I do a lot of Sunbrella projects and the Arizona sun is brutal. Tenara thread is the way to go. Great product. A little pricy but no restitching needed later.
Strong Lifetime Thread
Sews fine in my Juki, no issues with skipped stitches. Strong and lasts a lifetime. Only problem is the price! No reflection on Sailrite who is right inline with other sellers.
